I need to relocate my sick cat recently from NYC to Boston ...?
but he was just recovering from a house and bladder infections. How long should I wait before moving him? He was a little nervous little guy so I know he'll be the stress of the move. I'm not sure if I should I wait a week, two ... more? Also, her cat-scratcher is old and her bed was ruined when he got sick. Should I buy new stuff here in NYC and have him get used to it in my current apartment and then move everything in Boston? Or, should I just buy all new up there? I think cats like to smell / feel something familiar when they move? Thanks!
I agree with buying new things now and move them when the Kitty are used to them. when I moved with my cats, they are totally freaked out. I put it behind a bathroom with one of their litter boxes, their favorite climbing tree, and a blanket I use a lot so it smells like me. They are really still unsettled despite the use of feliway (a product welcoming scent that mimics the cats leave things when they rub them) When they are let out of the bathroom and saw the bed was set up there, they are more confident and ready to explore the new home knowing that this is where all the things they are. as for infection, it is a real infection? Urine was ever tested for bacteria, or the cat just pee on things and the vet prescribed antibiotics and told to use a "prescription 'diet"? It a shame that the urinary problems in cats is not explained by better dealt with better by vets. A lot of times when cats urinate outside the box and vet a call it a urinary infection, it really is a problem with crystal forming urine is too alkaline and that is too concentrated for cat food is not appropriate food. Dry food is mostly plant matter and meat. Plant matter is alkalining and meat is acidifying. Feeding your cat a diet high in meat protein based and it is high in moisture and low in carbohydrates are actually better in the long run for your cat, but most vets do not want to know it because they do money selling your food. They rely on pet food companies to make money with them telling them what works, because it is useful and easy to pass the buck.
